#GetYourFreekehOn GIVEAWAY!

I was chosen to participate in the Freekeh Foods Campaign as part of being a Sweat Pink ambassador.  I was not compensated for this post, just sent product and coupons! All opinions are my own.

First, I wanna give you some info about Freekeh from their website... Because I'm sure you're wondering...

Freekeh? What is that?

So glad you asked! Freekeh is an ancient roasted grain that is a great improvement to rice or other grains. It has an awesome nutty, chewy texture. We offer it organically in 3 varieties: Original, Rosemary Sage and Tamari. What's more, freekeh has up to 3 times the amount of fiber and protein as brown rice.  Freekeh is also naturally low in sodium and vegan!

Here's the legend of how freekeh came to be...

Freekeh is a process which means "to rub" in Arabic. They say, Freekeh was discovered by accident over 2.000 years ago in the  Middle East when a crop of young green wheat was set ablaze. Most farmers would sulk over their misfortune, but they rubbed off the chaff, cooked it up and "Eureka!" Freekeh was created. We're proud to offer you this tasty, nutritious ancient grain with a funny name.

So what do you do with Freekeh?

The question should be...what can't you do with Freekeh? We love it in soups, pilafs, salads, main dish, side dish, breakfast, lunch, dinner. You name it!  You can use Freekeh in any recipe that calls for rice or quinoa. There is no wrong way to "get your Freekeh on."® Fall in love with this new ancient grain and share with us your favorite way to "get your freekeh on!"
For recipe ideas hop on over to the recipe section! There are some mouth watering healthy recipes, including lots of vegan options.

We kept dinner simple and made grilled chicken on top of Rosemary Sage Freekeh. We were pleasantly surprised at how much flavor there was in the Freekeh! It was very tasty!

We used our leftovers inside our Stuffed Peppers the next day. Forgot to snap a pic, but it was delicious too!

New Things of the Week!

With Jared actually being home for TWO WHOLE WEEKS in a row, I have been soaking in as much time as I can with him, and not blogging as much. Today, we have a few more new things to share with you that we've tried over the past week!

OH MY GOODNESS! These little bites are packed full of flavor and awesomeness, that you wouldn't even think you were eating something PACKED FULL OF NUTRIENTS AND HEALTHY FATS TOO! The Cinnamon Roll and Lemon Coconut were the two flavors we tried, and they were PHENOMENAL. We ate them after our dinner, and also as a pre-workout snack. JUST PERFECT! Check them out on their: FacebookTwitter, and Instagram

We love coconut oil, but sometimes we are in a hurry in the morning, so this was a great way to ensure that we are getting our healthy fats for our breakfast on rushed days. They didn't have any bad aftertaste and they gave us a little boost of energy as well.
Check them out on their: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

For all you gluten free friends out there, THIS LINE OF BAKING MIXES ARE JUST FOR YOU! We didn't even notice that the gluten wasn't there. We used the all-purpose flour for some pre-workout muffins and they hit the spot! We gave our friend Lindsey the Brownie Mix because she has to eat gluten free and she loves chocolate! She was so excited! We are looking forward to having a gluten free girls night with the Pizza Crust soon! :)
Check them out on their: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram

Hope you get a chance to try some of these and let us know how you like them!

How to Avoid Getting HANGRY

If you're anything like us, you deal with being hungry quite frequently.

With all the working out we do, we have to eat a lot, so today, we wanted to give you some tips on dealing with hunger and avoiding getting hangry.

1. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS bring some type of snack with you wherever you go. Ladies, that's what purses are for, right?
Emergency stash of fig bars in my purse saved us on date night!
2. We like to eat a HUGE breakfast to start our day off on a good note. When we don't eat enough for breakfast, we tend to be cranky and hungrier all day long. Our favorites are Peanut butter and banana toast, some type of oatmeal with peanut butter (when we have more time, we make BAKED oatmeal!) or a huge bowl of cereal and yogurt and peanut butter (our favorite is when we can use an almost empty peanut butter jar and scrape out every last bit of peanut butter with our yogurt mess)!

3. Sign up for FITSNACK to get healthy and filling snacks delivered RIGHT TO YOUR DOOR!
Our favorite snacks from the July box were SkinnyPop, Justin's Almond Butter, and the Peanuts! MMM!! Don't forget you can also get a free gym bag when you sign up and click on this link

4. Be sure to eat plenty of healthy fat! Yes, eating fat is GOOD FOR YOUR BODY! It helps fuel you longer and feeds those muscles!

We buy the FULL FAT yogurt and any kind of nut butter has lots of healthy fats!

5. Bring Peanut Butter with you wherever you go with these convenient on-the-go packs from Crazy Richards! They are perfect to stuff in your purse for those sudden hanger strikes! They are great straight from the packet and added to your favorite foods! They even have an all natural energy boost added!
