What a Weekend!

If you've read this blog in the past, you've seen how crazy our golf life can be. I thought it was crazy already, but this weekend set the bar higher! Where do I even begin?

On Thursday, Jared had a rough day of golf. Things just weren't bouncing in his favor and he shot +5. The best part about hearing updates from his mom (Yes, she texts me during the round and I am SUPER THANKFUL for that! It helps hearing updates because I can't be there in person! Thanks Kathy!) was that he kept his head up and had an awesome attitude even though golf wasn't going smoothly that day. Makes a wife's heart happy!

The chaos all started on Friday night after I got off work. I headed to the airport because of...

Blessing #1: My boss PAID for my plane ticket to come watch Jared's tournament. We were completely shocked and super grateful that I was able to come up and see Jared in the middle of a 3 week period of being apart.

As I am sitting in the airport, Jared is playing INCREDIBLY and is at -7 through 15 holes. He had 3 more holes to go and the cut was at -1 and his score was -2. My legs couldn't stay still while I was patiently waiting to hear the final results. In the meantime, there was MADNESS at the airport. My flight was supposed to be at 7:45, but there were delays since 2:30 because of bad weather in Atlanta. I finally sat on the plane at 9:10 and sat there until 10:00 came.

Meanwhile, I got to FaceTime Jared at the airport and congratulate him for MAKING THE CUT!!! He shot a BOGEY FREE -7 and it was the BEST ROUND OF THE DAY!!!! I was super proud of this golf score, but even more proud of his witness! He had a post round interview with the Web.Com Tour Media and he told them "we both prayed a lot together on Thursday night and completely trusted that God would take care of us no matter what. We have a great faith base and spoke a lot of truth and life into today. We were gonna be happy no matter what happened, but we were super happy with the outcome." The crew took a picture after the awesome round and even included me with the ball marker I got Jared. Getting that text MADE MY DAY because I often feel excluded because I can't physically be at the tournaments a lot of the time. I felt remembered and loved with this picture!

There was absolutely no way I could catch my connecting flight in Atlanta, so with the help of persuasion from Jared and the rest of the family, I got off the plane and had a ticket exchange for the next morning at 6 am. Thankfully, the Delta crew was SUPER helpful and very accommodating to get me out as soon as possible. I drive home and have about 3 hours to sleep, but it just doesn't happen. I don't know if I was just too excited or overwhelmed with all the airport chaos, but I didn't sleep a wink. Somehow, I managed to stay awake enough to drive safely to the airport and catch the 6am flight to Atlanta and then arrived in Nashville at 8:15. My dad picked me up from the airport and we caught up to Jared on hole 6.

Unfortunately, Jared had another day of tough breaks and shot +3. We were a little bummed of course, but we knew that Sunday was a brand new chance to go low again!

Jared had a 7:18 tee time, and we were staying at my parent's house in Clarksville, so we had to wake up at 4AM!!! That early wake up call, paired with a crazy Friday night with all of my airport chaos left Jared mentally and physically EXHAUSTED by the time Sunday came around. He couldn't explain it other than it was just one of those days where everything just catches up to you and there's nothing that can help you really. Unfortunately, he shot +7 that day to finish T74 for the week. We definitely took away some positives from the weekend though! First of all, I was able to WATCH Jared in person, we got to see each other after 2 weeks apart, he played an AWESOME round of golf on Friday, we shared God's love and witnessed through our actions and Jared's words, and he improved from his first cut made on his first year on the Web.Com Tour in 2014, because he didn't finish dead last! SO MANY POSITIVES TO TAKE AWAY!

Another awesome positive was that I got to see my GREAT friend that I made on the first year on the Web.Com Tour, Katie! She is a great encourager and supporter through this crazy golf life. She prays for Jared and I and always sends encouraging texts and lifts us up after rough rounds.

Jared and I are super grateful for all that God is doing in our lives and can't wait to see what's next!
